1. LED ZEP
Probably the greatest. Physical Graffiti is the greatest album of all time.
Became bogged down in their own hype, but in their heyday a real crowd-puller. Wish I’d got round to it.
3. THE CLASH
I was still in school and they never seemed to be anywhere I could get to.
4. STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN
I had a ticket to see him but his plane went down before the day. RIP Stevie.
5. THE JAM
Similar to The Clash for me. So that’s where energy went.
6. JIMI HENDRIX
No circumstantial issues here – he was dead before I could leave the house.
7. JOHN LEE HOOKER
Had a ticket to see him but he was too ill to perform.
The classic fuzz guitars. Unrepeatable.
Kossoff in full flight? Yes please.
10. THE DICTATORS
Little-known sleaze rockers from New York. In their Manifest Destiny pomp they sounded massive.
