They had some pretty good bands at Brunel, I particularly enjoyed this gig, especially after several pints of ESB at 213 Harefield Rd. Happy Days!
Was that The Abrook Arms. The extension of Vyners 6th form Common Room. Teachers in the Saloon Bar, Pupils in the Public. 5 pints of Mild for a £1. Halcyon Days!
I attended an excellent Stranglers concert in the big hall at Brunel at around that time. They were supported by some crap group called ‘Wire’, who had to endure the audience’s displeasure by being rained upon with a storm of gob.
Interesting. Wire were quite successful in an underground sort of way for a bit, like A Certain Ratio, but they weren’t really my bag.
[…] excellent site, this time Flying V’s blog confirms the set the Stranglers played in May 1977 […]
